Improvements in or relating to the arrangement of exhaustdriven charging-blowers on multicylinder internal combustion engines
Abstract
Abstract 503,003. Pumps. - BUCHI, A. July 23, 1938, No. 21929. Convention date, July 25, 1937. [Class 7 (ii)] In a multi-cylinder in-line engine a compact exhaust-driven turbo-blower 13, 15 is mounted at the side of the engine with its axis arranged transversely to the longitudinal axial plane of the engine cylinders. Either the turbine or the blower may be adjacent the cylinders which are connected by short piping. The cylinders are preferably arranged in two groups, located on either side of the blower, which may be carried by the flanges of the exhaust pipes. The charging air is drawn through a filter 17 which, if the engine is surrounded by a removable casing, is arranged so that it can be dismounted without removing the casing.
