Abstract 481,663. Centrifugal pumps. HOLMES & CO., Ltd., W. C. (Roots-Connersville Blower Co.) June 11, 1936, No. 16384. [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal pump impeller 20, Figs. 6, 7, has peripheral blades 22 extending outwardly, and forwardly at an angle x of about 25‹ to a radial line, the rear faces being shaped to a Vee with each side at an angle y of about 25‹ to an axial line. The front face may be parallel to the rear face, or may be flat, Figs. 8, 9, with inclined rear faces 43. The casing has an inlet opening into the working chamber at the centre of the impeller which has apertures 30, Fig. 2, to admit fluid on both sides. The working chamber has an inlet end 28 and is defined by casing ribs 24 terminating at the outlet 17. An abutment 38 prevents free flow between passages 17, 28.
