Improvements in air conditioning plant

[Class 137] An air conditioning plant is provided with two or more systems of alternative control of the water content, temperature and fresh air supply, a shifting device responsive to the relative temperatures of the indoor and outdoor air, automatically setting in operation the control system appropriate. The shifting from one system to another is effected by a thermostat 2 which is in the fresh air supply F, and operates a shifting device 21 under the action of which are control members 51, 31 actuated by thermostats 5 and 3 respectivelv in the outlet duct from the room A and on the outlet side of the conditioning plant B. A fan C supplies the conditioned air to the room, and a fan D draws off used air to a return air duct E from which dampers 61, 62 lead to exhaust, and the air conditioning plant respectively. When the outside air is warmer than the room air, thermostat 5 is employed to control, by damper 63, entry of fresh air and, by damper 61, exhaust of air from the circuit, the thermostat 3 acting to keep constant the dew point of the conditioned air by controlling valve 33 in pump circuit H which circulates water from a container 8 to sprayers 3a, heated water from container 3b being mixed with cooling water from container 8 in valve 33. Variations of temperature due to the number of persons in the room control the amount of fresh air added, variations in relative humidity are corrected by thermostat 4 and heater 42. When outer air is cooler than indoor air, the fresh air supply is transferred to control by thermostat 3, and supply of cooling water through valve 33 is reduced, and with further drop in temperature of the outer air, thermostat 5 is again brought into action. In case of very low outdoor temperature, the fresh air may be heated by heater 12 under control of thermostat 1, and the cooling coil 3c replaced by a heating coil.
