Abstract

Abstract 417,543. Cigarettes. BUNTING, F. T. S., 85, Stonefield Road, Hastings, Sussex. Sept. 29, 1933, No. 26882. [Class 130.] Each end of a cigarette a is provided with an internal sleeve b so secured to the paper tube as to obviate any longitudinal passages or spaces therebetween. The sleeves may consist of a single layer of material or of a plurality of layers of equal or unequal lengths secured together ; they may be composed of perforated material or of material having serrated edges. The tipping material at the mouthpiece end may be of cork, waxed paper, transparent cellulose, damp-resistant material, crepe paper, or woven fabric treated with stiffening, damp-resisting or fire-proofing material. A ring c may be provided on the tube to distinguish the mouthpiece end of a cigarette and a cork tip or a filter tip e or both may be used. Each sleeve is applied to the cigarette so that the seam is in line with the seam of the cigarette, and to avoid a bulky seam the edges of the sleeve may extend short of the seam of the paper tube or they may be reduced in thickness by pressure.
