Abstract
Abstract 397,791. Packeting cigarettes. COM-' PAGNIE DE SIGNAUX ET D'ENTER. PRISES ELECTRIQUES, 6, Rue Caroline, Paris. March 20, 1933, No. 8431. Convention date, March 19, 1932. [Class 94 (i).] A batch B of cigarettes is fed past guide-flaps 2 into a bag &c. A held between members 11. During the first phase, the batch passes to the position shown in Fig. 2, with the leading end within a sheath 1 on which the flaps are mounted. The flaps comprise angle pieces 2 diagonally mounted on axes 3 and normally urged inwards by springs 4. During the next phase, the batch and the sheath and associated flaps move together towards the bag until abutments 2B contact with an adjustable apertured plate 7. The flaps are then arrested and turned into a rectangular position within the mouth of the bag and the continued movement of the feed plunger 36 continues the insertion of the batch as shown in Fig. 9. The sheath is mounted on slides 5 and is positively advanced and retracted by a cam mechanism. Adjustable links 24, 25 on the slides cause a piston 19 to move from the position shown in Fig. 2 to that in Fig. 9 and turn plates 12 to turn about their pivots 13 so that the side of the bag is forced inwards and the cigarettes pass completely into the bag without fouling the internal corner tabs 38. Specification 398,117 is referred to.
