Abstract

Abstract 371,421. Electric signalling and remote control systems. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Oct. 23, 1930, No. 31905. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1929. [Class 40 (i).] Picture transmitting apparatus is used in a remote control and supervisory signalling system. The transmitting element comprises a lavout of the network formed of conductive touch members not connected together which can be put on potential by hand or mechanically operated switches and the receiver may either record the transmitted picture or control the power switches directly. Meter readings may also be transmitted. As shown in Fig. 2, the double-lined portions are the touch members which are connected to a source of potential over the switches shown. When this system is transmitted, with the switches in the positions shown, the double lined portion shewn in Fig. 1 is received. If the system is being used for remote control the receiver moves over touch members similar to those shewn in Fig. 2, to which the control relavs of the remote apparatus are wired so that the receipt of potential automatically operates the remote unit. For switches with two positions two touch members may be provided, one of which controls the " on " and the other the " off " position of the switch. For the transmission of meter readings a touch member 39 is provided connected to a switch 37. The switch 37 is set to the reading to be transmitted and when the member 39 is being read off the switch 37 restores to normal, transmitting a series of impulses over 39 to the distant station. These impulses may be recorded as a series of dots at the receiver or a touch member such as 39 may be provided connected with a mechanical meter which is set to a position corresponding to 37 by the impulse transmission.
