Abstract
Abstract 354,635. Drilling, milling, &c. machines ; chucks. DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER, 7, Weissfrauenstrasse, and BROMIG, K., 1, Domitianstrasse, both in Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Oct. 31, 1930, No. 32794. [Class 83 (iii).] A high speed drilling, milling or like machine for precision work, such as drilling small holes in parts of clocks, is characterized by having the drill spindle in one with the shaft of a high speed electric motor or turbine, and the tool chuck secured to the spindle by an adjustable bush. Fig. 1 shows a drilling-machine of this type having the spindle in one with the rotor shaft 10 of a water turbine. The tool chuck, which is of the bevel closing type having a split collet 19, 20 with triangular recess 21 in one of the gripping- jaws, Fig. 4, is fastened to the spindle by a bush 15 provided with a number of set-screws 16 to enable the tool 17 to be accurately centred. The machine is slidably attached to a vertical pillar and can be clamped in working position by a screw 7 having a hand-lever which draws together the spring arms enclosing the pillar.
