Slide rules. - An instrument for determining the mean speed of a vehicle comprises a stationarv base A with logarithmic scales B, C graduated to represent distance and mean speeds respectivelv and a relatively rotatable disc D with a logarithmic scale E representing hours and minutes. The time taken to travel the distance. run is set opposite the distance and the mean speed is read directly on the scale C opposite a pointer F or F' on the disc D corresponding respectively to t'he time read in hours or minutes.
