Abstract

Abstract As a means of reducing the incidence of seam failure in flat woven papermakers fabrics having multiple layers (11, 12) of weft yarns which arises from mechanical wear, it is proposed that the seam-forming element (15) is connected to warp yarns (113, 213) which respectively exist at the face and at the back of the fabric at the fabric end. In an alternative structure, the seam forming element (15) is connected to warp yarns (713) which exist neither at the face nor the back of the fabric at the fabric end. <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 113 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabric having multiple layers ofweft yarns and wherein selected warp yarns at the respective fabric ends are woven back into the fabric to make secure the said ends, characterised in that at one end at least of thefabricthe warp yarns of a first proportion of said selected warp yarns extend about the extreme weft yarn at one respective face of the fabric and the warp yarns of a second proportion of the selected warp yarns extend about the extreme weft yarn at the other respective face thereof, and in that a spiral seam-forming element is attached both to the said first and to the said second proportions of the selected warp yarns.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 113 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 83 words
A flat woven papermakersfabric having multiple layers ofweftyarns and wherein selected warp yarns at the respective fabric ends arewoven back into the fabric to make secure the said ends, characterised in that at at least one fabric end a proportion of said selected warp ends extend aboutthe extreme weftyarns at one face at least of the fabric and a second proportion ofsaid selected warp yarns extend between and beyond the extreme weft yarns to define a multiplicity of outwardly extending warp loops thereat.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 83 words
A flat woven papermakersfabric having multiple layers ofweftyarns and wherein selected warp yarns at the respective fabric ends arewoven back into the fabric to make secure the said ends, characterised in that at at least one fabric end a proportion of said selected warp ends extend aboutthe extreme weftyarns at one face at least of the fabric and a second proportion ofsaid selected warp yarns extend between and beyond the extreme weft yarns to define a multiplicity of outwardly extending warp loops thereat.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 25 words
Aflat-woven papermakersfabric as claimed in claim 2, further including a spiral seam forming element attached to the said second proportion of the selected warp yarns.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
Aflat woven papermakers fabric as claimed in claim 1 or3,wherein the turns of each spiral seamforming element are arranged in interdigitated disposition with the selected warp yarns and are attached to said selected warp yarns by a hinge pin.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricasclaimedin claim 1, wherein the warp yarns of thefirst and second proportions of the selected warp yarns pass around respective helical turns of the spiral seamforming element.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricas claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the firstand second proportions of the said selected warp yarns each comprise 50% of said selected warp yarns.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabric as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein both fabric ends are of like form.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 22 words
Aflatwoven papermakers fabric as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the warp yarns comprise monofilament polyester and/or polyamide yarns.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 20 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricas claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the weft yarns comprise monofilament polyester and/or polyamide yarns.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 13 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricas claimed in any one ofthe preceding claims, comprising a semiduplex fabric.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 16 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricsubstantially as hereinbefore described and as illustrated in the separate figures of the accompanying drawings.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 16 words
Aflatwoven papermakersfabricsubstantially as hereinbefore described and as illustrated in the separate figures of the accompanying drawings.
