Abstract

Abstract The coating is typically transparent to visible light, but has a considerable degree of opaqueness to ultra-violet radiation, and is substantially impermeable to (atmospheric) gases and water vapour. The coating may be an oxide preferably indium oxide or nitride. The bottle is typically of plastics and is used for the storage of (typically carbonated) beverages. In an alternative embodiment, rather than applying the coating to the bottle itself, the bottle is wrapped in a transparent plastics packaging material having an analogous coating.
