Improvements in and relating to the Taking Up of the Cloth in Looms for Weaving.
Abstract
Abstract 11,368. Stussy, F. Aug. 6. Take-up motions.-In looms in which a pressure beam 3 is mounted between a tension beam 2 and the cloth beam, the cloth beam is detachably mounted on spring-controlled levers 4 and presses the pressure beam elastically against the tension beam. The levers 4 are provided with notches 9 for the ends of the cloth beam, and with notches 10 for the ends of a reserve cloth beam. When the cloth beam 12 is full, it is moved into depressions 19 on slides 14 mounted on the levers 4, the slides being moved into the position shown, projecting beyond the framework of the loom. The reserve beam 13 is simultaneously moved from the notches 10 to the notches 9 by the movement of the slides. The pressure beam is covered with soft material, such as felt, which may be covered at its edges or over its whole length with rubber, emery cloth, &c.
