Improvements in or relating to the means or apparatus for supporting the tone-arms of gramophones and like instruments
Abstract
Abstract 149,122. Marles, A. T., and Hunter, H. W. July 2, 1919. Sound-boxes, balancing.-The weight of the tone-arm b is taken by a spring-supported arm j which may be either straight or suitably curved. In the latter case it is upheld by the ends i<2> of springs i threaded on two pillars f. These springs support the sleeves g in which the bar j is pivoted, and are tensioned by screws h. The tone-arm may rest directly on the bar j, which is then covered with rubber, or it may carry a pulley (not shown) mounted between lugs n. The pulley has a rubber-covered groove in which the bar j engages, and is capable of axial movement on its spindle.
