Abstract 1372720 Matrix displays DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 30 Oct 1972 [30 Oct 1971] 50561/71 Heading G5C In a liquid crystal display panel with crossed conductor arrays selected elements are energized by D.C. or low frequency A.C. voltages and spurious displays of non-selected elements are suppressed by high frequency A.C. voltages, preferably above 1,000 Hz. In phase H.F. voltages V R , V C are applied to all unselectad row and column electrodes with either V R = V C or V R = V C/2 . Alternatively the voltages are not in phase and different potentials are applied to selected and non-selected electrodes.
