Abstract 1366717 Valves TECHNO CORP 23 Nov 1971 54364/71 Heading F2V [Also in Division A5] A non-return valve for use in cardiac surgery has a conical body divided into generally triangular petals 14 defined by slits 15 and provided with a rim 11 to receive two rings 13, forming with an annular surface on the body a concave outer surface 20. The valve body may be of stainless steel or moulded in medical grade silicone and be secured to the rings by moulding. A soft fibrous material is secured to the surface of a groove 16, 17 to allow the valve to be "sutured" into a vein or artery. The petals are biased to the closed position by a reinforcing wire mesh 21.
