Relief valve
Abstract
Abstract 1,140,407. Baling machines. AMERICAN BALER CO. 23 June, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 29147/67. Heading B5F. [Also in Division G3] In a baling machine having a baling head 12 reciprocated by a piston 28 supplied from pump P via rotary valve 25, the outlet orifice is defined by hinged plate 19 controlled by piston 33 supplied from the pump delivery line 24 via line 31, pressure reducing valve 39, line 37, relief valve 50, check valve 64 and line 32. Valves 39, 50 are spools with axial bleed passages therethrough which supply liquid to balance chambers housing respective springs 40, 51. The reduced pressure level in line 37 is controlled by relief valve 45 variably loaded at 47. To prevent stall, pilot relief valve 62 unseats when the pressure in line 31 reaches a predetermined level and the consequent upward movement of spool 50 connects line 32 to exhaust at 54 and supplies liquid to line 57 to raise piston 66 thereby opening check valve 64 to allow a return flow from cylinder 21 of piston 33.
