Abstract
Abstract 1,091,541. Counting speed variations. B.D. GREENSHIELDS. Dec. 8, 1964 [Dec. 9, 1963], No. 49872/64. Heading G1K. [Also in Divisions B1 and G4] A counting apparatus for indicating the number of changes in speed of a vehicle comprises an apertured ring 46, Fig. 3 (not shown), associated with the speedometer, and a lamp 47 and photocell 48. Pulses from the cell which indicate a speed change, feed a cumulating counter 6, and, during half or one minute intervals, feed alternately counters 2a, 2b so that the number of changes occurring during the preceding interval can be read while the other counter is stepping. A further counter 5, counting timing pulses, is operative only when the vehicle is moving, contacts 126 being opened by a magnet on ring 46 to prevent counting when the speedometer is at zero.
