Abstract
Abstract 1,069,805. Vehicle suspensions. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND, [trading as ALFRED TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ABMATURENFABRIK KOMM.-GES.]. Aug. 4, 1964 [Sept. 19, 1963], No. 30501/64. Heading B7D. [Also in Division F2] An hydraulic suspension for motor vehicles has a piston 7 and cylinder 3 system connected, respectively, to the vehicle body and axle, a pressure medium source 1 and a reservoir 2 communicating through valves with the working chambers of the system. A partition 9 is provided in one working chamber to form two chambers 10, 12, the chamber 10 communicating freely with the reservoir. The two chambers are separated further by a valve 15 which extends through the partition 9 and normally seats against a wall of the chamber 10. A pin 33 of the valve 15 is provided with a collar 34 with which co-operates two springs 35, 36, the collar and spring assembly being housed in a bore 32 of the piston 7. The pressurized medium passes through a distributer 4 having balanced or unequal outputs to the suspension system, through a spring-loaded valve and into chamber 12 to extend the system until such time that the spring pressure on valve 15 is overcome by the medium pressure on the valve 15 whence the valve opens and medium flows to the reservoir.
