Abstract
Abstract 1,069,608. Musical instrument key. VIRSERUMS KLAVIATUR & ORGELFABRIK A.B. Oct. 29, 1965 [Nov. 30, 1964], No. 45877/65. Heading G5J. Key 1 is pivoted on cross-bar 10 at notch 9 and an arm 7 extending downwards from it through port 13 in the cross-bar is pulled downwards by spring 15. Crossbar 10 is integral with backpiece 11 of keyboard frame 12 and is preferably of metal. The supports of the springs 15 of the various keys of the board are combined in a beam 14. Flange 16 moves through a slot in rail 19, so guiding the key laterally and felt strips 22 and 25 limit the vertical movement by engaging with stop 21 and the key body respectively. Pin 4 actuates sound producer 5 and may be alternatively positioned at the key centre (4<SP>1</SP>). Preferably arm 7 is a steel pin and key 1, its finger-plate 6, and rail 19 of extruded or cast synthetic resin. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the keyboard body may be an extrusion of light metal such as aluminium. A method of assembling a keyboard from keys according to the invention is described.
