Polyurethane resin and a process for the production thereof
Abstract
Abstract A polyurethane resin is prepared by reacting an adduct containing free -NCO groups obtained by the reaction of a dibenzyl diisocyanate having the formula <FORM:1069602/C3/1> and trimethylol propane, hexanetriol or pentaerythritol with a polyoxyalkylene glycol or triol of M.W. 550-20,000 and containing alkylene units of 2-4 C. A polymide, e.g. from succinic acid and hexamethylene diamine, may be allowed to react with the dibenzyl diisocyanate adduct, or may be added after the reaction of the adduct with the polyoxyalkylene compound. A cross-linking agent, e.g. methylene bis-chloroaniline may also be added. Catalysts e.g. organotin compounds and amines may be added to the reaction. Foams may be produced by incorporating a blowing agent.ALSO:A polyurethane solution obtained by the reaction of polyoxyproplyene triol with an adduct of 44\sv dibenzyl diisocyanate and trimethylolpropane, was admixed with titanium white and thinned with ethoxy ethylene glycol acetate, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate and toluene and was applied to an iron plate and cured at room temperature.
