Improvements in flight control simulators
Abstract
Abstract 1,037,060. Teaching warfare. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION (OPERATED) Ltd. Feb. 18, 1964 [Nov. 20, 1962], No. 43954/62. Heading F3C. In a simulator for the training of operators to control the flight of missiles, a pupil and instructor are provided with a continuous view of the terrain over which the missile will fly. A cine film of the terrain is passed through a projector which provides an image on the cathode of a television camera. The latter is connected by a closed circuit to television monitors at the pupil and instructor respectively. The missile is assumed to be provided with a television camera and means for transmitting to a control station the field of vision viewed by the missile camera. To produce the effect of missile motion, the optical system is provided in the simulator, through which the light beam from the projector passes before entering the cathode of the television camera. The optical system is adjustable by the pupil. The effect of jamming signals can be introduced by the instructor.
