Method and system for determining the position of moving objects from a location station and apparatus for implementing the method

Abstract

Abstract The moving objects (2), such as vehicles, are equipped with an on-board apparatus (6) comprising: - means (20) for receiving spatial reference signals (S) delivered by satellites; - calculation means (22) which deduce the position of the moving object (2) from the spatial reference signals (S) received; - modulation means (24) which establish a modulated signal representative of the calculated position of the moving object (2); and - terrestrial radiotelephone communication means (8, 14) for transmitting, in addition to sound signals, the said modulated signal to the location station (4). Use in particular for remotely tracking a fleet of vehicles.
