Abstract The invention relates to the field of collapsible furniture. The collapsible item of furniture according to the invention is essentially characterised in that the device for fastening the elements together consists of an assembly comprising a connector 4, 6 of appropriate form equipped with attached threaded joining pieces interacting with joining pieces firmly attached to the said tubular elements by means of complementary right-hand or left-hand threads, so as to form assembly references and to ensure instantaneous assembly and collapsing by screwing the said tubular elements. Application to the production of collapsible or modular items of furniture.
