Bicycle pedal comprising a safety device for fixing a shoe to said pedal
Abstract
Abstract Bicycle pedal, comprising a safety device for fixing a shoe, the sole of which has a wedge having a positioning hollowing or groove. The rear bar 2 of this pedal is notched in its upper portion and behind the latter there is a movable fastening member provided, for example a vertical plate 5 whose upper edge is capable of being engaged in the groove 6 of the wedge 4 of the shoe. Now, this plate 5 is mounted on the pedal by the intermediary of mounting means and elastic linking means tending to hold it normally against the rear bar 2 of said pedal, whilst allowing it to recoil under the effect of a rearward force. This thus allows a rapid disengagement of the foot without having to release the tightening belt fastening the shoe to the pedal. This pedal may equip bicycles or other similar vehicles.
