Abstract

Abstract Firefighting in hydrocarbon storage plants. Improvements to devices for the production and pouring of extinguishing foams in plants for firefighting in tanks for hydrocarbons, said plants comprising a series of vertical pipes arranged regularly around the hydrocarbon tank 1 and whose free upper ends are pointed towards the interior of the tank 1, the said pipes being connected to a source of water under pressure with interposition of means for introducing an emulsifying agent, each pipe containing an air injector to permit the formation of the foam, which are characterised in that the air injector 10 is arranged in the neighbourhood of the free end of the pipe and is provided downstream of the latter with means for forcing the flow of water travelling in the pipe to swirl, the free end of the said pipe being provided with a nozzle 33 to form a flat jet of foam.
