Brake lining wear detector - has a sensor housed in internal groove between two half-shells in outer casing
Abstract
Abstract The detector (17) is in the form of a trapezoid having a head (33) and two flanks (45) connected to the cables of the electric circuit. The detector is housed between two half-shells (70) made from a heat resistant, electrically insulating material. When the two halves are assembled, the head (17) is housed in an internal groove (75) and the two cables (48) lie in the external longitudinal slots (73). The resulting assembly is inserted into a cover tube (34) after which the ends of the tube (35) and (54) are peened over to permanently retain the inner assembly. The half-shells (70) and their slots (73) form a guide passage, in the form of a hairpin, receiving the head.
