Tracked vehicle steering gear - has steering wheels pivoted on rear of chassis actuated by hydraulic cylinder
Abstract
Abstract The heavy motor vehicle has a chassis carried on a track (2). This runs to the front and rear parallel to the chassis and occupying most of the width. A motor (6) is mounted on the chassis and drives a sprocket engaging the track. The chassis can have a train of guide rollers at the rear and steering wheels (14) for an engine at the rear. The guide wheels can be actuated by a hydraulic cylinder, which can riase them to prevent contact with the ground. The hydraulic cylinder can be between two telescopic vertical posts, one carrying the guide frame and the other articulated at the front of the chassis by the cylinder.
