Wind driven alternator regulator - has shield operated by two vertical blades to progressively occlude sials as wind speed increases
Abstract
Abstract The regulator is for an alternator driven either directly or via a flexible coupling from a shaft carrying permanent magnets and the half cylindrical sails. The sails may be stacked above each other, each stack being offset by 45 deg. w.r.t. its neighbour. Regulation is by a curbed shield operated by a pair of vertical trapezoidal blades working against a spring such that as the wind speed increases the sails are progressively occluded. The shield can also be moved by servo-mechanisms. The shield is carried by two horizontal shafts, one extending into one of the guide blades via the axis point of the sails. The second blade moves with respect to the first and against a spring connected to the second shield rod.
