Reinforced concrete elements for building sea wall - have front faces supported by beams and buttresses
Abstract
Abstract The sea wall, breakwater or similar structure is built up from a row of reinforced concrete elements. Each element has a face (a) which is supported by a horizontal beam (b) and a buttress (c). The beam (b) passes through the face (a) and is joined to an inclined slab (d). The other end of the beam (b) is joined to a cross-member (e) which forms an anchorage. Reinforcing platforms are formed behind the face (a) on either side of the beam (b) and are covered with ballast when the element is installed. An additional reinforcing rib (g) is formed behind the upper edge of the face (a). Corresponding end, corner etc. elements are formed in a similar manner.
