Plastic envelopes for storing video recording discs - modified to assist manipulation or folding without disc damage
Abstract
Abstract The parent patent described envelopes for storing video recording discs in holders which may need to be folded. This addn. describes a modification of the profile of the borders of the envelope to partially radius one layer. The curved surface helps control the rolling of the envelope without needing an insert rod. Pref. the envelope is sealed and evacuated to prevent generation of friction damage or static charges on the disc surface. Pref. the envelopes are made from laminated films of polyethylene-coated polyester film. One border may be stiffened with a panel of thick polyethylene sheet for suspending the pack and to control the pattern of a tear zone for opening the pack. The pack may incorporate notched cards and grip tabs to control manipulation when folding or loading/unloading packs contg. double-faced video discs.
