Cementless articular prosthesis component - has metal socket with radial slots expanded by tapered sliding lining

Abstract

Abstract The articular prosthesis component is fixed directly to the bone without cement, in a first immediate mechanical stage, by expansion of the metal socket, and in a second stage by osseous invasion of the external coating. A first complementary part comprises a metal socket cut into sectors by partial radial slots, to allow elastic expansion of the socket. A second complementary part consists of a sliding lining working inside the socket and secured to it by a bayonet-type coupling. The lining has a tapering porton forcing the socket sectors apart.
