Semiconductors, such as bipolar transistors - with amorphous layers locally crystallised by e.g. laser to reduce number of mfg. operations
Abstract
Method for producing semiconductor devices having a P-N junction. This method is characterized in that, on a substrate, a first layer of amorphous semiconductor uniformly doped with a first type of impurity is produced, in that the region or regions of said layer to be activated are subjected to a beam localized having sufficient energy to transform said region or regions subjected to said beam by crystallization into a polycrystal, in that a second layer of amorphous semiconductor doped with a second type of impurities is produced on said first layer and in that the said region or regions of the second layer to be activated are subjected to a localized beam having sufficient energy to transform said region or regions subjected to said beam by crystallization into polycrystal. Application to the production of bipolar transistors.
