JOINT PROSTHESES
Abstract
Abstract Translated from French Prothèse d'articulation. Joint prosthesis. This prosthesis comprises two organs which can pivot relative to one another, namely, a head and a seat. The head has a base surface resting on one of the two bones to be connected, a convex sliding surface and two opposing flattened guide side surfaces each defining a groove transverse to the base surface. The seat has an outer upper surface to rest on the other bone, a concave sliding inner surface and collars to cooperate with the lateral guide faces of the head which support at their ends two hemispherical bosses intended to enter the grooves. This prosthesis makes it possible to connect two bones of the skeleton in particular a metacarpal bone to a phalanx or two phalanges between them.
