Abstract

Abstract The ball valve has a cylindrical body and a central chamber (5) which is eccentric to the valve seat (7). The central guide (9) is in the form of a thin vane supported in a longitudinal groove (36) and retained by the inlet fitting (23). The lower edge of the guide (9) forms a ramp which guides the ball (6). When the ball (6) is on its seat (7) it is also supported by the ramp at the point (31). When the ball (6) is lifted ff its seat it is supported at the three points. The guide (9) reduces ball vibration and seat wear.
