Abstract

Abstract The apparatus takes part of the weight of the upper part of the body so as to relieve fatigue on the spinal column of a person working in the same position for long periods, whether seated or standing. It has two upholstered rings (1, 2) fitting round the arms at armpit level and giving a certain amount of lifting effect. This effect can be exerted by a single rope from the spreader (3) joining the two rings, running over grooved pulleys (5, 6) and anchored to a spring. An adjusting knob can be provided for the spring, to regulate the lift.
