Method of casting hollow blocks with meltable cores - uses balls, granules etc. in cores to reduce liquid content
Abstract
Abstract In the parent patent hollow panels and slabs are produced using an internal former comprising a container holding a quantity of liquid which is frozen or coagulated, and removed when the moulding is finished. The quantity of liquid is considerably reduced by the addition of solid matter, e.g. balls, evacuated with the fluid by gravity, or by blowing or by suction. The blocks may come into direct contact with the materials being cast, whether these are plaster or substances which wholly or in part are vulcanised and/or polymerised, and heat treated or not. The balls are made pref. from a plastic material and have dimensions depending upon the size of the apertures in the moulding t hrough which the core is to be evacuated. Or granules or a powdery material such as sand may be used.
