The sliding plate (5) falls due to the action of gravity when the plug (7) is removed from the holes (6) in the plate. The plate (5) may be held in its live terminal covering position by spring loaded balls which locate in the holes (6) when the plug (7) is removed. Electrical connection of the plug (7) to the terminals (3) is made by pushing the plug in the holes (6) and sliding the plate upwards until the holes (6) are aligned with the terminals (3).
