Anti-flicker supply for fluorescent lighting tube - has capacitor limiting the current flow to the tube
Abstract
Abstract The anti-flicker ballasting supply for fluorescent tubes allows control of the degree of illuminations while overcoming some of the disadvantages of orthodox ballast techniques, i.e. the weight of copper wire in the coil and its soft iron core, the loss of power due to coil resistance and the heat generated as a result. Hum produced by resonance of the core laminations is also removed and a capacitor input circuit to the bridge limits the power supplies to the tube. A full wave bridge rectifier and a smoothing capacitor of the order of twenty microfarads supplies D.C. replacing the ballast inductance.
