Road vehicle route recorder - employs circulating memory and alternator connected to transmission
Abstract
Abstract The recorder uses an electro-mechanical system for supplying signals to a circulating memory via a sampling system for sampling the signals for a present duration at regular intervals. The sampled signals are preferably supplied to a magnetic head recording unit which records the signals on an endless magnetic tape band, comprising the circulating memory. The electro-mechanical system may employ an alternator mechanically connected to the vehicle transmission, or a circuit breaker actuated by the transmission. The magnetic tape band may be contained in a cassette which can be moved for reply in a reply unit separate from the vehicle.
