Stretch breaking device for sliver - including clamp for holding sliver and sliver feed device downstream of clamp
Abstract
Abstract A silver is advanced by first and second feed devices (pref. comprising a pair of driven nip rolls) and a clamp is operated by a control device to clamp the silver upstream of the second feed device simultaneously with the control device rendering the first feed device inoperative, so that the sliver is stretch broken between the clamp and the second feed device. Pref. the clamp comprises a presser plate which is moved by a lever mechanism to force the sliver into a co-operating recess and pref. the lever also moves one of the nip rolls of the first feed device out of co-operation with the other nip roll, whereby the first feed device is rendered inoperative. The device is used with winding machines having automatic doffing or coiling mechanisms with sliver cans.
