Abstract
Abstract Control rod for a high power, fast neutron reactor, occupies a part of the transverse section of a special fuel element the total cross section of which is identical with that of the other normal fuel elements in the reactor, while that part of this special fuel element not occupied by the control rod is occupied by fuel needles of reduced height taking the place of the control rod when this is raised from the fissile zone of the core and sliding below the core into a special enclosure when the control rod is lowered.
