Rough texture textiles - of polyurethane skin/foam composites distorted by differential contraction
Abstract
Abstract Polyurethane foam sheet where the surface skin has a crumpled or crushed appearance due to use of two underlying layers with differing contraction behaviour. Pref. the foam/skin composite is bonded onto some form of support sheet, such as worsted, paper, metal or mating. Claims mfr. by assembly of layers of foam and a skin using heat cured adhesives where the foam layer is maintained in tension until the skin is fixed. Subsequent relaxation of the foam puckers the surface skin. Alternatively a skinned foam may be stuck to a second layer of foam where only the latter is maintained in tension during bonding. For mfr. of foam backed textiles for clothing or furnishing to obtain a soft, non-reflecting surface.
