Abstract

Abstract A multi-channel radar apparatus is provided that allows optimization of the number of used channels in terms of position detection precision and processing time reduction. The multi-channel apparatus according to the present invention detects the position of a body that produces reflecting waves by calculating, for example, the center of gravity using only the received signals of monostatic channels (B1, B3, and B5) when the level of the received signals is high and using the received signals of both the monostatic channels (B1, B3, and B5) and the bistatic channels (B2 and B4) when the level of the received signals is low.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 113 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus providing a plurality of monostatic channels formed by using the reflected wave of a beam transmitted from the source channel as a received signal of that source channel, and a single or plurality of bistatic channels formed by using the reflected wave of a beam transmitted from another adjacent channel as the received signal of the source channel, wherein: the position is detected by using only the received signals of said monostatic channels when the level of the received signals is high and using both the received signals of said monostatic channels and the received signals of said bistatic channels when the level of the received signals is low.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 48 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to Claim 1 wherein the case that the level of said received signals is high is treated as the case wherein one or more among the received signals of all channels comprising said monostatic channels and bistatic channels exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to Claim 1 wherein the case that the level of the received signals is high is treated as the case wherein two or more among the received signals of all channels comprising said monostatic channels and bistatic channels exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 47 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to Claim 1 wherein the case that the level of the received signal is high is treated as the case wherein the summation of the received signals of all channels comprising said monostatic channels and bistatic channels exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 55 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to any of Claims 1 through 4 wherein the direction of the reflected body that generates the reflected waves is calculated as the value obtained by averaging the direction of each of said channels which have been weighted by the level of the received signals of each of said channels.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to any of Claims 1 through 5 wherein each of said channels provides transceiving antennas.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to any of Claims 1 though 6 wherein each of said channels is formed by an FM signal transceiving unit.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to any of Claims 1 through 7 wherein each of said channels is formed by a milli-waveband FM signal transceiving unit.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 20 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus wherein the number of used channels is reduced as the level of the received signals increases.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 51 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to Claim 9 wherein the direction of the reflected body that generates the reflected waves is calculated as the value obtained by averaging the direction of each of said channels which have been weighted by the level of the received signal of each of said channels.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 22 words
A multi-channel radar apparatus according to Claims 9 and 10 wherein each of said channels is arranged having approximately equal separation therebetween.
