Abstract The swivel axis (17) of the seat is located in a centre region of the seat surface (12), and in the front region of the seat surface means (22) are provided to reduce the upper thigh pressure in the front region when the sitting section is lowered. The swivel axis is located in the region of the sitting point of the passenger, and preferably behind it, and in an area of approximately 0.30-0.70 the depth of the seat surface.
