Claim 1
Independent Claim 320 words
Exhaust gas recirculation device of an internal-combustion engine, for example a diesel internal-combustion engine with a feedback path (13) leading to the manifold pipe, with a bypass path (23) parallel to the feedback path (13) and bridging it, with an exhaust gas cooler (15) connected by its inlet (16) and its outlet (17) to the bypass path (23), and with a valve device (20), with which the exhaust gas cooler (15) can be selectively bypassed, and having two valves (42, 52), of which the first valve (42) is associated with the feedback path (13) for selective control of the passage through it or to block it, and the second valve (52) is associated with the exhaust gas cooler (15) for selective control of the passage through it or to block it, characterised in that the two valves (42, 52) are combined to form a module and have an actuator (43) common to both, with which the valve closure members (46, 54) of the two valves (42, 52) can be actuated together, and in that this modular valve device (20) is designed as an independent component and is fitted directly to the exhaust gas cooler (15) in the region of the inlet (16) and the outlet (17) or, combined with the exhaust gas cooler (15), forms a module, and in that the first valve (42) associated with the feedback path (13) has a housing passage (45) as its own valve duct, and in that the second valve (52) associated with the exhaust gas cooler (15) has a valve duct (53), and in that the valve device (20) has a feed connection (21) and a discharge connection (22) for the exhaust gas, and in that the housing passage (45) of the first valve (42) and the valve duct (53) of the second valve (52) are each connected into the feedback path (13) via the feed connection (21) and the discharge connection (22).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 71 words
Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the valve closure members (46, 54) of the two valves (42, 52) are designed as shutters and are arranged on an actuating shaft as an actuator (43), and in that the valve closure members (46, 54), viewed in the pivoting direction of the actuator (43), are arranged offset with respect to one another, preferably about a peripheral angle substantially between 70° and 90°.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 55 words
Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the valve duct (53) of the second valve (52) is connected to the inlet (16) and the outlet (17) of the exhaust gas cooler (15) and the associated valve closure member (54) is arranged upstream from the inlet (16) or downstream from the outlet (17).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 69 words
Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the valve device (20) has a bypass outlet (36) and a bypass inlet (37), in that the bypass inlet (37) is connected to the discharge connection (22) of the valve device (20), and in that the bypass outlet (36) is connected to the feed connection (21) via a first valve duct (38) in the housing (40) of the valve device (20).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
Device according to claim 4, characterised in that the bypass inlet (37) is connected to the discharge connection (22) via a second valve duct (39) in the housing (40) of the valve device (20).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 33 words
Device according to claim 5, characterised in that the first valve duct (38) in the housing (40) of the valve device (20) contains the valve closure member (54) of the second valve (52).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 57 words
Device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the valve device (20) is fitted to the exhaust gas cooler (15) in such a way that the bypass outlet (36) is connected to the inlet (16) and the bypass inlet (37) is connected to the outlet (17) of the exhaust gas cooler (15).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 38 words
Device according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the valve device (20) is fitted with a housing flange (30) to a flange (31) of the exhaust gas cooler (15) and is fastened thereto.
