Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to an actuator comprising a motor (4) by which the shafts (1, 5, 7) of the actuator are driven. At least one magnet (2) is arranged in conjunction with the shaft (1, 5, 7). The actuator further comprises at least one Hall sensor (3), which generates pulses as the magnet (2) on the shaft (1, 5, 7) passes the Hall sensor (3) as the shaft (1, 5, 7) rotates. The pulses are used to define the position of the actuator in the linear direction (Fig. 2).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 136 words
An actuator of a paper or board machine comprising a motor (4); a shaft (1, 5, 7) driven by the motor (4), the position of the actuator in the linear direction being adjusted by rotating the shaft (1, 5, 7) by the motor (4); and a sensor which is arranged to measure the rotation of the shaft (1, 5, 7) and to generate a pulse output proportional to the rotation of the shaft (1, 5 7) to define the position of the actuator in the linear direction, characterized in that at least one detection point is arranged in conjunction with the shaft (1, 5, 7) and that the apparatus comprises at least one Hall sensor (3), which generates a pulse when the detection point of the shaft (1, 5, 7) revolves past the Hall sensor (3).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 34 words
An actuator as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the detection point in conjunction with the shaft (1, 5, 7) comprises a magnet (2) arranged in conjunction with the shaft (1, 5, 7).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 99 words
An actuator as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the apparatus comprises a detection point wheel (8), which is arranged to be driven by the shaft (1, 5, 7), the rim of that part of the shaft (1, 5, 7) which comes into contact with the detection point wheel (8) being larger than the rim of that part of the detection point wheel (8) which comes into contact with the shaft (1, 5, 7), so that when the shaft (1, 5, 7) rotates, the detection point wheel (8) rotates faster than the shaft (1, 5, 7).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
An actuator as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the Hall sensor (3) is arranged in conjunction with the shaft (5) of the motor (4).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
An actuator as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the motor (4) is a synchronous motor.
