Abstract
Abstract The safety seat has the head rest fitted with and expanding cushion to hold the head in a collision and reduce whiplash effects. The cushion is linked to a reservoir in the seat back support to form a totally enclosed system. The inflation medium can be a gas for a low inertial reaction. The non return valves have limited leakage to return the head rest cushion to normal e.g. after heavy braking. The enclosed system can be inflated by a compressor to selected levels.
