Abstract
Abstract The component (9) has a distorting outer skin (11) extending in the air-flow direction (12). Ribs (1) of adjustable shape extend in this direction, and have a closed flexible outer belt (2) running along the skin. Numerous constant-length stiffening struts (3) engage with the belt at each of their ends. One or more actuators can engage with the struts and/or belt, so as to vary the angle included by them. The aerodynamic component can be moved so as to distort the ribs, which can be fixed to the skin while the struts can hinge on the belt at each of their ends.
