Abstract

Abstract A 4-terminal thin-film-transistor electroluminescent device employing organic material as the electroluminescent media is described. The device comprises two thin-film-transistors and a capacitor and an overlying passivation layer (74) having an opening with tapered edges (76) over which an organic electroluminescent layer (82) is disposed. Overlying the organic electroluminescent material is a cathode layer, which is preferably a continuous layer made from a low work function material.
