Abstract
Abstract The device has a series circuit connected between 2 current conductors (I, II) provided by an overvoltage limiter (VI) and a thermically coupled switch (S1), used to switch over to a second overvoltage limiter (V2) in parallel with the first, when the temp. of the first overvoltage limiter reaches a given threshold. Pref. the overvoltage limiters are provided by varistors or spark gaps, with a further switching device (S2) pref. thermically coupled to the second overvoltage limiter for interrupting one current conductor.
