Claim 8
Dependent Claim
100 words
A forward error correction method CHARACTERIZED BY the steps of: encoding in a transmitter N original data symbols by combining said original data symbols to form M parity data symbols in order to transmit to a receiver a data stream of N + M data symbols; detecting in the receiver at least one error in said data stream; transmitting from the receiver to the transmitter an indication of errors in said data stream; and adjusting at the transmitter the number of M parity data symbols included in subsequent data streams based on the number of errors detected by said receiver.
